10 things you probably didn’t know…about me

by picsie on October 25, 2010

Teresa Deak, the Maven of Social Butterfly Solutions

My friend and marketing mentor, Yolanda Facio, posted a list like this. Her logic, as the master unhinger that she is, is that people like to do business with people they know, so let your readers get to know you.

Get to know me? That’s daunting, scary, risky. But, despite the alarm bells ringing and the red flags popping up all over, I’ve decided to take her advice.

I’ve decided to take the risk.

Realistically, how bad can it be? At best, you’ll get to know more about me, and we’ll get a chance to connect. At worst I’ll probably just bore you and you’ll move on. Bored? Maybe, because this time I’ll only be revealing some lesser known things about me. If you were hoping you’d learn all my deep dark secrets, you are about to be disappointed. Don’t go just because I said it’s boring, read the list and let me know what you think of me now!

  1. I thought I was a cat person, until a dog joined our family.  Now I have four fur-babies: 2 cats and 2 dogs.  If I had more house, more time and more property, I’d have more of both!
  2. I’m vertically challenged.  Seriously, I’m surprised when I meet the rare person who has less height than me who isn’t under the age of 13.  I’m not complaining – plenty of things are easier for someone of diminutive height, and apparently I have a “tall” personality!  (notice I didn’t say short, once?…  er, oops)
  3. I have fewer teeth than an adult is supposed to have.  Yes, despite my ability to talk…a lot…I have a small mouth and the orthodontist yanked out 4 teeth that were apparently in the way.
  4. Other than teeth, I have all of my body parts.  Yes, I still have an appendix and even my tonsils!  I’ve only been under general once, and that was to repair a broken humerus.  It was actually a pretty good learning experience, but I wouldn’t call it funny.
  5. My favourite bands are Nine Inch Nails and Tool.  Not surprisingly, those are two of the best concerts I have ever seen.  Surprisingly, Michael Buble makes that list, too.  Who knew?
  6. I haven’t figured out if I’m an extroverted introvert or an introverted extrovert.  Either way, I like a nice balance between being immersed with people, and being on my own.
  7. I share butterflies. Often. Virtually. Because they are colourful, energetic, symbols of freedom and infinity.  But mostly because they make almost anyone smile. Feeling down? Who wouldn’t want a special order shipment of butterflies?
  8. In my first lap of the 24 hour mountain bike race, I passed for the lead, was rained on, hailed on and watched by a bear as I slowly climbed the hill. None of my teammates saw the bear. We never gave up our lead.
  9. I have sat through a sweat lodge, completed a 100km cycling event – twice, taken my go-kart from 7th place to 3rd place in one corner and can do the peacock pose.  I am often surprised by what this body can do when enough will and determination come along for the ride.
  10. In a mere 3 years I will have been with my husband for twice as long as without him.  That seems significant.  Perhaps that will be the year we actually celebrate our anniversary.
Whew. I did it! Risk and worry be damned. And it really wasn’t all that bad.

Or was it?

Let me know how you liked this. Got any questions for me?

How about you: what are ten things that people may not know about you? I’d love you to do your own post and link to it from these comments. And if that’s too much, just tell us one thing, right now, in the comments.

We want to hear more about you!

Nine Inch Nails?!

Seems we have music in common then. Little known fact about me; I like my metal and hard rock (and everything else, but you know, mostly those two). Awesome. =)

Why, hello, Heather, nice to see you here!! :-)

I love meeting others who are into loud music, and aren’t typical metalheads – happy contradictions, we are!

So, what else is on *your* list of 10 things?

Hugs and butterflies,

Cool to find out such interesting things about you. I even forgot you were “short” (and we’ve met in person!)

I often wonder if my son has a “head like a hole”, and you would be lost in the land of the giants around here, laughing, but they are all gentle giants!
See I shared!

Thank you, dear friend, for popping over here and leaving your thoughts even though you meant them for my other site. :-) and thank you for that also!

Yes, I have been amidst giants now and again, and survived! Thanks for your sharing.

Hugs and butterflies,
~T~
